Good morning. Starting early Sunday morning and finishing by mid-late afternoon, volunteers for Street Tweaks will be removing the majority of the galvanized steel planters on Coxe. They have a permit to block sections of the roadway as they operate a forklift to carry the planters down to the gravel lot near the bottom of the street and empty them before trucking them away. There will be no complete street blocking and work should go rapidly.
The large planters will remain at the intersections of Coxe with Banks and Buxton, as requested by the city for traffic calming.
This is the beginning of the reversal of much of Street Tweaks changes, as the SSNA requested. Thank you to our members for their patience during the experiment, and to Street Tweaks for their acceptance of our requests and response. In March or April, they will remove the mural between Banks and Buxton, and we will begin phase 2 of the adjustments – discussion and action plans to replace the planters and plants, and identify how and where a street mural will repainted. Meantime, SSNA is following up with the city to get certain parking spaces reassigned and painted, crosswalks repainted, and lights added to the downhill stop sign at Banks.
