Press release from Rug & Home:
Rug & Home announces that it will present two checks on November 20th at 4 PM.
The first check will be for $5,000 and will go to the Flat Rock Playhouse to support the art and theatre in the Carolinas. Rug & Home has been a major supporter of the Flat Rock Playhouse for over 10 years. The Flat Rock Playhouse has been well known as the premier theatre of the Carolinas, and the cast and crew of the Playhouse has proven to be dedicated and talented in their endeavors. They are an inspiration and the pride of the community. This year, the Playhouse has been hard hit by the pandemic and has had to cancel almost the entire 2020 season of shows. The best way that Rug & Home felt they could help is with this contribution, with the hope that the Flat Rock Playhouse will continue to thrive in the years to come. The check will be presented to Kim Hinkleman and Lisa Bryant from the Playhouse by Clyde and Nina Allen – longtime customers of Rug & Home and special supporters of the Playhouse.
The second check will be for $1,500 and will go to Selah Grace and her family to help with continued medical expenses the family has had to endure. Diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Cancer at just 4 years old, the family has spent most of the last 4 years in hospitals up and down the East Coast dealing with tests, surgeries, chemotherapy and various other treatments. In an effort to support Selah and her family, Rug & Home raffled off a hand-knotted Sari Silk rug and was able to raise $27,000 for little Selah Grace in 2017. This additional check is a continuation of the Rug & Home’s support for the family.
Rug & Home has always believed in giving back to their communities, and this year the need is greater than ever before because of the Pandemic. From giving the elderly a smile with their flower deliveries to local nursing homes, donating lifesaving vests to the local police departments, supporting the Flat Rock Playhouse and $100,000 to Four Seasons Hospice and Pallative care, $50,000 to Pardee and now a commitment of $100,000 to Memory Care – supporting local causes is very important to them. In 2018, Rug & Home owners Rakesh and Dolly were honored with the Philanthropist of the Year Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
