Grocery store employee held by gunpoint during robbery

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (October 25, 2021):  Asheville Police investigators are asking the public’s help finding a man who assaulted a grocery store employee while holding him at gunpoint during a robbery.

An Ingles employee walking into work was approached from behind by a man holding a gun in the parking lot. The robber then proceeded to drag the employee behind the building and began hitting him in the face with his fist. The employee was able to escape and ran off towards the fuel pumps. As he was running, the robber fired several times. Officers responded to 915 Merrimon Avenue on October 23 at 6:13 am and were unable to locate the man who was last seen walking North on Merrimon Avenue.

The Asheville Police Department is asking for help finding the robber, who has been described as a black male, tall, thin build, wearing an orange shirt covered up by a black hoodie, blue camouflage pants, and wearing a face mask.
