Have you ever wondered how much progress Buncombe County is making toward its goals of environmental stewardship? Or how objectives surrounding economic development are moving forward? In a move aimed at increasing transparency around the 2025 Strategic Priorities, County staff has upgraded the dashboards that track metrics on a number of quantifiable achievements surrounding the identified priorities of:
- Educated and capable community
- Environmental and energy stewardship
- Resident well-being
- Vibrant economy
- Equity
“It’s vital that our residents see the impact that their tax dollars are having on our community. The dashboard shows that we have a long-term vision, and that we are tracking the outcomes of the strategies we’ve put in place,” says Assistant County Manager Sybil Tate. The updated dashboard makes it easier to navigate the County’s goals and explore data surrounding them. “It shows that we are doing great in some areas, while there is room for improvement in other areas. It’s an honest representation of our progress toward achieving the goals set out in the strategic plan. I believe this is a critical tool for improving public trust,” explains Sybil.
Strategy & Innovation Director Rafael Baptista says the updated redesign focused on making the data easier to read and understand. “By openly sharing our progress in relation to the Strategic Plan, we are living our commitment to transparency. My favorite feature is the easy-to-understand color coding of progress for each goal of the Strategic Plan,” says Rafael.
Information is updated quarterly, and you can view the updated Strategic Plan dashboard here. Just click on the strategic priority you are interested in to view the data. Buncombe County thanks everyone who worked on this project and looks forward to providing this updated information to the community.
