Sheriff Quentin Miller hires retired Haywood County Sheriff Greg Christopher

Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller has hired retired Haywood County Sheriff Greg Christopher to serve as a consultant to his command staff at the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office. 
 
“The experience and leadership that Sheriff Christopher brings into this new role will greatly benefit our community and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office. He has served as a well-respected Sheriff and with his extensive expertise and background with law enforcement leadership, I am excited to announce that he is joining our Sheriff’s Office,” says Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller.
 
“I am excited to work with Sheriff Miller and his Command Staff, as he continues to lead his agency into the future of 21st century policing,” says Sheriff Greg Christopher. 
 
Sheriff Christopher has most recently served as the Sheriff of Haywood County, beginning in 2013 until his retirement in 2022. Sheriff Christopher was appointed chaplain of the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association (NCSA) and sat on the NCSA Legislative Committee, as well as the Training Committee.
 
In 2013, he retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol as Lt. of Troop G based in Asheville. Prior to that, he served in the North Carolina National Guard for 22 years with the 105th Military Police Battalion. Sheriff Christopher graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice.
 
Sheriff Christopher has been married to his wife Sherri for 37 years, and they have three adult children. Emily, Chad, and Abigail all work in organizations committed to public service. Emily is an ordained Pastor and currently leads as a Senior Director at the Virginia Beach United Way. Abigail and her husband, Josh, are Base Leaders and missionaries for Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Queenstown, New Zealand. Chad is a United States Army Ranger Infantry
