Press release from Asheville Police Department:
Asheville Police Department officers arrested a man on multiple charges, including drug possession and carrying a concealed firearm, following crime prevention efforts at an apartment complex over the weekend.
APD officers and detectives were conducting crime prevention in the 100 block of Bartlett Street around 12:41 a.m. on November 3rd when they observed a drug transaction in a parking lot. Officers made contact with Zachery Demon Pickens (01/03/2000), who was found to be in possession of a large amount of drugs and a gun. Pickens was taken into custody and charged with the following:
-Possession With Intent To Manufacture Sell or Deliver Schedule II
-Possession With Intent To Manufacture Sell or Deliver Schedule II Within 1000 Feet of a Park
-Carrying Concealed Gun
-Resist Delay Obstruct
Pickens was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $50,000 (or $5,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
