Local cultural center seeking people to interview about their Helene experience

Press release from Center for Cultural Preservation:

The Center for Cultural Preservation, WNC’s History and Documentary Film Center, is collecting stories about those who have been affected by Hurricane Helene for our oral history archive as well as for a possible new documentary.  The Center produced Come Hell or High Water, Remembering the Great Flood of 1916 at its 100th anniversary in 2016 as a cautionary tale about the flood-prone and landslide-prone nature of our region.  History doesn’t only provide important lessons and help us understand our place in the world, it can also save our lives.  We are particularly looking for people whose families were affected by previous great floods (1916, 1923, 1940, 1955, 1977, 1996, and 2004) who can comment on the impacts they faced and what they have learned.  Please contact the Center via its website www.saveculture.org or call and leave a message at (828) 692-8062.
