Small Bites

The bee’s knees: The wildly successful Burt’s Bees, the Durham-based maker of Earth-friendly personal care products, is coming to town. On Thursday, March 31, Asheville’s Greenlife Grocery will host a “Burt’s Bees Seminar” featuring a look at the company’s history, conservation work and socially conscious products. The free presentation starts at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 254-4943.

Honor roll: The Highland Lake Inn, a 26-acre resort in Flat Rock, recently won a Reader’s Choice Award for excellence, creativity and professionalism from ConventionSouth magazine. The magazine, which serves meeting planners who book events in the South, noted that the award nominations trumpeted the Inn’s “commitment to providing the highest quality service to groups.” The Inn can be reached at (828) 693-6812.

Through the grapevine: The Asheville Wine Market is taking reservations for a special seven-night wine and culinary “Adventure to Austria” hosted by Klaus Wittauer of kwselection.com. Wittauer is a dedicated importer of Austrian wines who has worked as a sommelier in the top restaurants of his homeland of Austria, as well as in Bermuda, St. Louis and Virginia. The May 21-29 tour will cost $2,869 per person, and will include exclusive VIP tours and tastings, cellar tours and gourmet wine dinners.
