Yonder Mountain postpones Orange Peel dates, rest of tour

Yonder Mountain String Band has postponed both nights of its Orange Peel stint, along with the rest of its February tour. The announcement came via the band’s and the Orange Peel’s Web sites. New dates haven’t been announced.

Here’s the somewhat general explanation: “We are truly sorry to report that Yonder has decided to postpone the rest of the February Cabin Fever Tour and apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment that this causes to all of the fans. The fans are at the core of our success and we sincerely appreciate your continued dedication and support through this time and always. Due to some unfortunate circumstances surrounding the band, Yonder is unable to continue the rest of the tour. We will keep you posted with information regarding the re-scheduling of these dates.  -Yonder”

Refunds for the Orange Peel shows will be issued where the tickets were purchased. For online or phone orders, call Ticketweb at (866) 468-7630.

think we all know what that’s code for….

It is due to health issues with one of the band members immediate family.

    You got some inside skinny?

If it’s true, then they should say that…Their current press release fairly SCREAMS “We have a drug/alcohol problem!”

Yes I do. The band had initially only cancelled one week of the tour due to an illness in the guitar player’s (Adam) family. The situation hasnt gotten better, so they cancelled the whole tour.

Reading comments from friends & fans on Jambase.com in the Yonder forum… this was expected. Jeff’s voice has been wearing out lately, straying from that signature sound and Adam’s family issues persist.

Was coming down from Pennsylvania for the Yonder shows this weekend but now I’m just coming to Asheville. Still going to have a killer time, I’m sure. I can see on there, there is tons of music being played this weekend but it’s all confusing to me. Where should I be on Thursday – Saturday?

    Thanks for the help,
    Matt in PA

    Matt,

I’d say head to the Grey Eagle Thursday night for a free show with some terrific bands: Local faves Brian McGee and the Hollow Speed, out-of-towners Andy Friedman and the Other Failures, and Moses Atwood. Brian McGee has a MySpace page where you can check out his music; try googling Andy Friedman, he’s an interesting cat. Also on Thursday, you could catch one of Asheville’s finest singer/songwriters, the inimitable Valorie Miller, at Westville Pub.

Friday and especially Saturday, there’s a ton of great looking shows. There are also Mardi Gras events this weekend (Xpress publishes Wednesday and will have more then.) Email me at ae@mountainx.com and tell me more what type of music you like, and I’d be happy to give you some better ideas.

    Matt,
Welcome to town. I’m from the North Hills.

On Saturday, be sure to attend Asheville on Bikes’ Bike Love party. We’ll have the best in local music and beer.

Asheville’s music scene won’t let you down. Enjoy Pierce Edens and the Dirty Work and Floating Action. They are Asheville’s musical treasures.
