Thousands of people turned out for Fanaticon, Asheville’s first-ever official comic book convention at the Asheville Art Museum on Pack Square. It ran from 10am to 5pm today.

Stage a buzz and reserve a ticket for What the Butler Saw, the near-perfect farce by British playwright Joe Orton currently running at the little theatre on Stage Lane.

Busk Break: Gorgeous Doom’s Dumpster-Diving Ditty
New Orleans-based bandGorgeous Doom have been busking downtown in Asheville this week. We were lucky enough to catch the trio version of the group trying out some new material across the street from Pritchard Park. This song doesn’t appear to have a title yet, but we do know the basic theme. According to banjo-playing singer Josh Cole, the song is about “eating out of the dumpster.”
