Anywhere, USA won a special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival for “singularity of vision” Saturday. The film, from local auteur Chusy Haney-Jardine, was formerly known as Asheville: The Movie and took three years to make, using mostly local actors and locations.

Asheville moviegoers will get another shot at seeing the local kung-fu spoof flick Golden Blade III: Return of the Monkey’s Uncle Thursday, Jan. 24, at 7 and 10 p.m. at the Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company. The movie, from film maker T.J. Wiedow, was the favorite local movie of Xpress readers in last year’s Best of WNC poll.
