Three or four times a year Mark and Michael Holland (aka The Holland Bros) — offstage twins and an onstage old-time, country and blues duo — make the trip up the mountain from Carrboro to play a weekend’s worth of shows at Ben’s Tune Up. “We visit a lot and consider it our home away from home,” says Mark. “It is a very unique place and it is our favorite spot to play in the region.” The brothers’ newest album, Yo To The Holland Brothers, was recorded with Rick Miller of Southern Culture on the Skids. Its 13 tracks range from the haunting, harmonica-fueled “Dreamed Last Night of an Old Girlfriend” to the folky, harmony-laden “Some These Days.” Upcoming shows at Ben’s Tune Up are Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14 and 15, from 8-10 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 16, from 2-4 p.m. benstuneup.com.
