News from a WLOS report that Buncombe County Republican Party Chair Timothy Johnson pled guilty in 1996 to aggravated assault charges involving his former wife are now troubling his run for the state vice-chair position. Last night, Asheville police made 13 arrests related to the Phish concert, all involving drug charges. Asheville resident William Kevin Innes, known for running the local branch of the Liberty Dollar alternate currency, was arrested June 2 on charges of trying to pass off coins as U.S. currency. The arrest came as part of a countrywide sweep of the organization’s officials.
