11th District Candidate Jeff Hunt releases statement on Amendment One

PRESS RELEASE FROM JEFF HUNT’S CAMPAIGN:

Today, May 1, Jeff Hunt, a candidate for the 11th District Republican nomination, participated in a press conference of District Attorneys highlighting the false advertisements being used in the Marriage Protection Amendment campaign. The anti-amendment interest groups have been spreading false information about domestic violence cases and law enforcement, which the District Attorneys today in Raleigh said simply weren’t true. At the press conference, Hunt reiterated his support for the Marriage Protection Amendment.

Said Hunt, “I’m voting for the Marriage Amendment because it is important we take this step now and define what’s in our state law in our constitution. I do not like the negative and underhanded tactics being used to spread misleading information that just isn’t true.”

Hunt added “Today is about setting the record straight and upholding what has been an institution for thousands of years, marriage being between one man and one woman, period. I’m here to fight for our values. On May 8 in addition to securing the Republican nomination for Congress from the 11th District, I am hopeful our state will pass the Marriage Protection Amendment.”

The national conservative magazine Human Events as well as the Asheville Citizen-Times has labeled Mr. Hunt a frontrunner in the race for the Republican nomination. Hunt has also raised the most money in the Republican primary from the 11th District. For more information about Jeff Hunt, please visit www.jeffhuntforcongress.com.
