Three Asheville City Council members call for local non-discrimination ordinance
Asheville City Council members Keith Young, Brian Haynes and Cecil Bothwell are calling for a fourth Council member to support their call for an Asheville non-discrimination ordinance. Referring to an April 19 decision by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Virginia, the Council members said the city should be ready to act in the event that HB2 — which prohibits North Carolina municipalities from passing non-discrimination ordinances — is struck down.
