AC-T: County, A-B Tech agree on buildings

Here’s an excerpt from the Asheville Citizen-Times article:

Buncombe County officials and Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College trustees have come to a meeting of the minds on the direction of the school’s building program.

Trustees on Monday unanimously endorsed plans to move ahead with a new building to house allied health and workforce development programs, a 650-space parking garage and a separate auditorium at its main campus on Victoria Road.

The revised plan emerged from recent discussions among a committee of trustees, County Manager Wanda Greene and Assistant County Manager Jon Creighton.

One of those participating, Trustee Tom Alexander, told the Board of Trustees, “It was collectively agreed amongst us that this was a real good plan. I think we get more bang for our buck.”

Construction of the allied health building had been scheduled to begin this summer, but planning stopped this spring because of disagreements between the county and the school over what should be built.
