Press release from the Asheville Improv Collective:
The Asheville Improv Collective is excited to bring to stage and screen actors Maribeth Monroe (The Good Place, Workaholics, The Brink) and Jaime Moyer (Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, 2 Broke Girls) to Asheville, May 18 and 19! The two supremely talented women will be performing a total of three shows at Habitat Tavern and Commons; one on Friday the 18th at 8pm and two on Saturday the 19th at 7pm and 9pm.
They will also be running two workshops on improvising (“Ladies Love Improv” and “Exploring Two Person Improv”) during the day on May 19 at Habitat Tavern and Commons. Maribeth Monroe will be giving an interactive lecture on being a working actress in Hollywood at The Magnetic Theatre on May 19, from 11am–1pm.
Opener for Friday’s show is local troupe, You, Me & Them. Following the show, both women will be doing a talkback Q&A with the audience. On Saturday they will be performing two shows, the first at 7pm with openers local troupe, The Cardigan Club, and their final show starts at 9pm with opening act Family Dinner, Asheville’s only all-female improv troupe.
AIC is very excited to bring outside improv and entertainment opportunities to Asheville’s already thriving performing arts scene. Co-owner and founder Clifton Hall says, “I was lucky enough to get to know Jaime and Maribeth from my time in Dallas and they are amazing performers and human beings. So far, Asheville’s improv community has had a huge female presence and bringing two strong female performers is something we are really excited about.”
Dana Hall, co-founder and owner says, “ I’m looking forward to watching them perform again, taking a workshop or two and getting a hug from Jaime – she gives the best hugs!” Co-owner George Awad says, “One of AIC’s goals is to expose our students to a breadth of improv knowledge from all over and Maribeth and Jaime are sure to put on a master class.”
