Advocates on aging hold event for caregivers on Nov. 16

Press release from AARP North Carolina:

Area advocates for older adults are hosting “Keeping it Together: Resources and Conversations for Family Caregivers” at the Veranda Café in Black Mountain from 4p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Hosted in collaboration among AARP North Carolina, Land of Sky Regional Council Family Caregiver Support Program and Dementia Friendly WNC, attendees can get answers to questions they have about the care they provide, and connect with local resources as well as other caregivers.

A report released this week by the AARP Public Policy Institute finds that there are over 1.33 million family caregivers in North Carolina who are providing 1.1 billion hours of care each year.  According to event organizers, many caregivers are seeking assistance so they can make their “labor of love” a little easier. The event is free, but registration is required. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
