AFD rolls out website with new photos, history

History of the Asheville Fire Department Website

Asheville, NC (May 30, 2017): The Asheville Fire Department is excited to share a history website with an archive of photos and stories which serve as a tribute to the past, future and present members of the Asheville Fire Department. Three dedicated Asheville firefighters, retired and current members, have worked many hours to gather and create this detailed AFD history website. The website was launched on May 2nd marking AFD’s 135th anniversary and can be viewed at ashevillefdhistory.com.

The creators and managers of the AFD History website request feedback from the public for any additional information, artifacts, stories or photos to add in order to fill gaps and to better understand the history of AFD. The website has a Contribute tab for anyone interested in sharing information.
