Aloft Asheville Downtown relaunches dog adoption program

Press release from Aloft Asheville Downtown:

Following a 1-year hiatus, Aloft Asheville Downtown proudly announces the relaunch of its celebrated foster dog adoption program in partnership with Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue, allowing guests the unique opportunity to find a “fur-ever” friend at check-in.

Through this trailblazing program, which got its start in 2014 and has since inspired hotels across the country to start similar programs of their own, Charlie’s Angels selects one dog at a time to be fostered by the hotel. The dog resides in a special enclosure in the lobby, increasing their exposure to potential adoptive families and bringing smiles to guests’ faces. Hotel employees walk, care for, and play with the dogs, which are adoptable by both hotel guests and Asheville residents following an application process to ensure the dog and prospective parents are a good match, as well as an adoption fee.

“We are thrilled about the return of our foster dog adoption program, which has been extremely well-received by guests and locals alike,” said Aloft Asheville Downtown’s General Manager Brandon Miller. “We look forward to continuing to work with Charlie’s Angels on our shared mission of helping dogs in need find their forever homes – a truly rewarding experience.”

To kick off the program’s much-anticipated return, the hotel welcomed its latest dog-in-residence, four-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler, Rosie, on Sunday, January 24, in tandem with Save a Pet’s Life Day. This sweet, laid-back girl, who is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and currently available for adoption, has never met a stranger and is looking for a family to call her own. Upon her adoption, Rosie will become the 225th dog the hotel has successfully connected with a permanent, loving home.

Additionally, with the program’s relaunch, the hotel unveiled an all-new hot pink lobby doghouse and custom bed graciously provided by Serta, helping Rosie and future adoptable dogs feel comfortable during their stay.

Since its inception, Aloft’s foster dog adoption program has helped connect over 200 deserving dogs in need with their forever families and has been featured in leading news outlets including People Magazine, O Magazine, Conde Nast, The New York Times, and more.

The recently renovated and pet friendly Aloft Asheville Downtown is managed by McKibbon Hospitality. In addition to Aloft Asheville Downtown, McKibbon’s Aloft Tallahassee Downtown, Aloft Greenville Downtown, and Aloft Orlando Downtown properties have also implemented foster dog programs in partnership with local rescue organizations, with all four hotels collectively finding permanent homes for hundreds of dogs.
