Asheville City Schools (ACS) are proud to announce the opening of nominations for Asheville High School (AHS) Athletics Hall of Fame!
This prestigious honor will recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of AHS athletes and coaches who have left a lasting legacy on the school’s athletic programs. Nominations are now open for AHS graduates from 1970 to 2014 who have demonstrated exceptional athletic performance, teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to excellence.
“We are excited to establish the AHS Athletics Hall of Fame as a way to pay tribute to the incredible athletes and coaches who have shaped our school’s history,” said Sonita Warren-Dixon, AHS Athletic Director. “These individuals have inspired countless students and contributed significantly to the rich tradition of athletics at Asheville High School. We especially encourage nominations for athletes who excelled in sports beyond football and basketball, recognizing the vast talent in programs like women’s athletics, tennis, soccer, and more.”
Nomination Criteria:
Graduated from Asheville High School between 1970 and 2014.
Made a significant impact on the AHS athletic program and/or the Asheville community.
Nomination Process:
Nominations can be submitted by filling out the online form linked below or by visiting the Asheville High School Athletics website. Paper nomination forms are available in the front office at Asheville High School located at 419 McDowel St., Asheville, North Carolina.
The deadline for submitting nominations is Tuesday, October 15th. Nominations after this date will be considered for next year’s Hall of Fame class.
The AHS Athletics Hall of Fame selection committee will review all nominations and select a distinguished group of individuals for induction. The inductees will be formally honored at a ceremony to be held in January 2025.
