Asheville High speech and debate team wins at National Tournament

PRESS RELEASE:

The AHS/SILSA Speech and Debate Team had its best finish in several years at the Wake Forest University Earlybird Preseason National Tournament in Winston Salem over the weekend. Please congratulate the team and its members for the following awards:

Overall Team Champions in the Congressional Debate division
Isaac Pohl-Zaretsky – Champion of Congressional Debate
Elizabeth Propst – Finalist (8th place) in Congressional Debate and Best Presiding Officer from Semifinals
Ilyas Colie – Semifinalist in Congressional Debate
Hannah Clarkson – Semifinalist in Humorous Interpretation
Pearl Conley – Quarterfinalist in Original Oratory
Ilze Greever – Octafinalist in Lincoln Douglas Debate
Chloe Dennison – 7th Place overall Lincoln Douglas Speaker
