To reconcile high animal intake and a slow adoption pace, Asheville Humane Society is dropping its adoption fees to $5 per feline of all ages until Saturday, Oct. 3.
“All adoptions include spaying/neutering, all up-to-date vaccines, medical and behavioral screening, microchipping, a free starter bag of food, one month of complimentary pet health insurance and a free post-adoption veterinary office visit with a participating veterinarian,” reads a release from AHS.

September is historically the slowest month for adoptions, and one of the highest in terms of animal intake. In order to find homes for all the cats and kittens who need a second chance, Asheville Humane Society is dropping adoption fees to just $5.00 for five weeks. Starting today until October 3, the challenge is to exceed the number of felines’ lives saved over last year’s $5 Challenge adoption total of 310 feline adoptions.
“This challenge is a great way to highlight all of our felines in need of a forever home,” says Tracy Elliott, Executive Director of Asheville Humane Society. “If you have been thinking about adding a kitty to your family, now is the time. Our Adoption Center is full of cats and kittens just waiting to go home with you! If you can’t adopt, please help us spread the word!”
The reduced adoption fee of $5.00 represents an exceptional value. All adoptions include spaying/neutering, all up-to-date vaccines, medical and behavioral screening, microchipping, a free starter bag of food, one month of complimentary pet health insurance and a free post-adoption veterinary office visit with a participating veterinarian. The reduced fee applies to cats and kittens of all ages.
Cats and kittens available for adoption can be viewed on Asheville Humane Society’s website: www.ashevillehumane.org.
