Asheville Lyric Opera holds Winter Gala, Feb. 27

Who: Asheville Lyric Opera is proud to announce the featured performers for their 17th Annual Winter Opera Gala.

What: The evening will feature live performances by internationally acclaimed soprano, Meredith Hansen, and Emmy award winning tenor, John Fowler.

Hailed as a “standout,” Ms. Hansen’s career highlights include performances at the Metropolitan Opera, and the Boston Lyric Opera, along with numerous awards from singing competitions both nationally and internationally.

John Fowler enjoyed a 30-year career as an international opera singer, with performances at some of the world’s premier opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, and Vienna Staatsoper. Mr. Fowler was also awarded with an Emmy for his portrayal of Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Boheme.

Les Down will serve as the pianist for the evening. Mr. Downs has played recitals all across the United States, as well as teaching piano privately and serving as a music director on numerous productions.

A live and silent auction will also be taking place on a number of exciting items.

The event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Saturday, February 27th at 5:30 p.m.
