Asheville Music Conference, “designed to offer music lovers a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain insight [into] one of the most powerful industries in the world,” according to the organization’s website. The group will hold a conference at UNC Asheville on Saturday, April 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The event features panelist Sonya DiPalma (an assistant professor of public relations, social media, multimedia storytelling, and media ethics at UNCA), musician Curtis Fields, sound engineer Dvante Black, mobile marketing expert H.A. Justice, Larry D. Butler (who works in community development and entertainment technology), Andre Williams (VP of RAYDAR, which won a Grammy for Rihanna’s album, Unapologetic) and Joshua Stack (founder of Funding America Through Entertainment).
Asheville Music Conference was created by Asheville natives Melissa Romany Mel and Victoria Byrd, and Scott Gash of Hendersonville. Their vision is to unite “music artists, enthusiasts, technologists and prestigious industry professionals that share a wide variety of needs, skill sets, and interests that allows for a rare opportunity to engage in discussions of music and technology with some of the most knowledgeable individuals in the industry.”
The event is free but registration is required. The conference is followed by an after party at Room Nine, from 10 p.m.-2 a.m.
