Press release from the Asheville Police Department:
Asheville, NC (November 29, 2018): In a continuing effort to increase transparency and provide the community with access to data, the Asheville Police Department has worked in partnership with several community members to release citizen complaint and 9-1-1 call data online through the City of Asheville Open Data Portal.
- APD Citizen Complaints: Data includes all complaints made on/after January 1, 2018. The data set includes information on the date the complaint was made, disposition of the complaint, status of the complaint and type of allegation. Data will be updated quarterly during the first week of each new quarter.
- APD 9-1-1 Calls: Data includes all 9-1-1 calls made on/after January 1, 2018. The data set includes the incident number, call time, block-level address, nature of the call and disposition of the call. Data will be updated quarterly during the first week of each new quarter.
The Asheville Police Department will continue to work to make additional data sets available online. Information on traffic stop reports, crime statistics, and other data sets can be found on the open data portal, as well as the Community Crime Map and Simplicity.
If anyone wants to take a stab at it, I built this open-source mapping tool for the EMS data in Charlottesville, VA: https://github.com/cville/fire-rescue-map which should be easy to convert for Asheville.
