Television viewers in North Carolina will soon get a barrage of advertisements for and against a proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
That’s different than in many of the 29 other states where bans have been debated and eventually approved.
“In the past, those against amendments have usually been underfunded, undermanned and often without money to run ads,” said Roger Hartley, a political scientist at Western Carolina University who has followed the debate.
The only one that counts.
