Joining a global initiative that promotes and supports breastfeeding, mothers of Asheville will come together to breastfeed their children at West Asheville Park (198 Vermont Ave.) on Saturday, August 6th at 10:30 am.
The Big Latch On aims to make breastfeeding a normal part of day-to-day life, to increase support for breastfeeding mothers within the area, and to help our community positively support breastfeeding in public places.
Held every August during World Breastfeeding Week, the Big Latch On gathers breastfeeding women at registered locations around the world to “latch on” (breastfeed) their child at a set time. All breastfeeding women and children are counted at each location to create the Big Latch On record. Family, friends, and community members join to support and promote breastfeeding.
