Blue Kudzu Sake Co. featured in Japanese culinary magazine

The Blue Kudzu Sake Co. announced this week that not only is its sake being reported on in Japan, but that its line of sake will be on sale in Florida next month and in five other states by the middle of 2015.

Blue Kudzu Sake is happy to announce that we have been featured in Japan’s Dancyu magazine. Dancyu is the premiere food and wine magazine of Japan.  We are honored to be featured in their annual sake issue which came out Jan. 6 in Japan.  The article features an interview with our head brewer Mitch Fortune and outlines some of the challenges encountered with opening a sake brewery in the United States.  The article also offers a brief review of our flagship sake, “The Spirit of the Sky” Junmai Ginjo, proclaiming it to have notes of melon and apple with a crisp acidity true to the ginjo style.  The article also talks about Mitch’s time in Japan learning to brew sake at the 300 year old Wakatekeya Shuzo Sake brewery.

We currently are having the entire article translated into English and will have the full translation on our website, bluekudzusake.com.  We are also awaiting the shipping of hard copies of the magazine to our brewery. It has been an exciting last few months at Blue Kudzu.  We celebrated our one year anniversary on October first and our entire sake line up is now available state wide in North Carolina. We are lined up to start sales in Florida next month, and will are in negotiations to add distribution in 5 more states by the middle of 2015.  Stay tuned for more exciting developments.  You can also visit our tasting room located at 372 Depot St. Unit 60 in the “sketchy” River Arts District.  We are open Tuesday-Sunday.
