Blue Ridge Books announces events for November and December

The bookstore is located at 152 S. main St. in Waynesville.

Author Event with Tami Rasmussen
Author Tami Rasmussen will read from and discuss her new mystery novel, Murmur, a narrative of a horrific murder and the shocking mystery threatening a way of life in the remote location of White Rock Mountain and Hickory Gap located in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of Franklin, N.C.

WOW Calendar Signing
The Women of Waynesville, WOW, will be having their first ever Calendar signing at Blue Ridge Books. This is an incredible way to come out and meet the Women of Waynesville, ask questions, find out how you can become involved with WOW, and get a great deal on their newest 2014 Calendar, Another Year of Empowering Women.

Poetry Event Tracy Schmidt
Start the holiday season enjoying sacred poetry in the tradition of Rumi, Hafiz and Mary Oliver, all set to magical hammered dulcimer music. Recited by Asheville-based Tracey Schmidt, who will read from her own work as well: I Have Fallen in Love with the World. She teaches creativity, poetry and photography at such facilities as Julia Cameron’s (author, The Artist’s Way) Creativity Camp, and the John C. Campbell Folk School. .

In time for Christmas, Anna will sign her children’s picture book, Tanner Turbeyfill and the Moon Rocks. A wonderful story about a little boy who is fascinated by the moon and longs to know all about it.

Author Event with Jeff Minick
Jeff Minick will read from and discuss his new book, Learning As I Go, a collection of essays and reviews. He is also the author of a novel, Amanda Bell. Jeff lives in Asheville, where he tutors home-educated students and writes for various publications.

Author Event with Karla Wood
Riley’s Mission is a tooth fairy tale that answers the questions most children have about the tooth fairy and the ultimately practical one: WHY should we bother when our teeth are going to fall out anyway…it provides incentive for children to care for their teeth in a fun fantastical way. It’s the perfect for your child or grandchild.
Karla Wood is a local practicing attorney who lives in Waynesville, NC with a lifelong passion for words and books. As part of her community service in her Army Officer’s Basic Course, she organized a group and told/read stories to children who lived on post.
