Press release from Brevard Music Center:
As soon as allowed by local authorities and the North Carolina Governor’s office, Brevard Music Center (BMC) will launch Brevard Music Center @ The Drive-In Movies —an exciting summer drive-in movie series brought to you by Ingles Markets, Presenting Sponsor, on the Music Center campus. The eight-film series is made possible by BMC with lead sponsors, PLATT and the Transylvania County Library Foundation, and will begin mid to late May with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as the first featured film in the series. The films will be presented on weekends at 9 PM on a big screen in the parking lot adjacent to BMC’s Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium (WPA) at 349 Andante Lane in Brevard. Future movie titles and dates for the weekly film series will be announced online soon at brevardmusic.org.
BMC is also collaborating with the following community partners for Brevard Music Center @ The Drive-In Movies series: The Cindy Platt Boys and Girls Club of Transylvania County, Rise and Shine Freedom School, SAFE, Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas, Sharing House, Meals on Wheels, and Bread of Life. Volunteers from these participating non-profit organizations will be giving each car a free bag of popcorn and candy along with literature about their missions in the community. Brevard’s own Co-Ed Cinema is providing the popcorn, and Ingles will provide free candy to patrons.
Drive-in enthusiasts will enjoy featured movies on a 30-foot screen coordinated and constructed by PLATT. Audio will occur via FM transmission to the moviegoer’s car radio. In order to minimize physical interactions, tickets can only be purchased ahead of time at brevardmusic.org and a limit of 80 cars per showing will be allowed.
“Our Brevard Music Center @ The Drive-In Movies series will offer something for movie buffs of all ages, including iconic musicals and old classics, as well as family-friendly, adventure, and action films. It will also allow our community to come together to share entertainment – in their cars and with their families – in a safe and inspiring environment,” said Mark Weinstein, President & CEO of Brevard Music Center. “We know that all types of entertainment can soothe the soul. It is our hope that the Brevard Music Center @ The Drive-In Movies series will provide a welcome respite for music and movie lovers of all ages in our community and region.”
“Ingles is thrilled to be part of this fun and creative way to continue Brevard Music Center’s rich tradition of entertaining WNC, “ said Melissa Leavell, Director of Advertising at Ingles Markets. “Ingles is especially proud to be a small part of so many coming together to bring this family event to Brevard.”
