Buncombe County Schools announces district Teachers of the Year

Press release from Buncombe County Schools:

 Buncombe County Schools’ (BCS) six District Teachers of the Year for 2017 were announced at the Regular Board Meeting this evening.

The district winners are selected from all of the school Teachers of the Year in each of the six districts that comprise BCS. The district winners will now compete for recognition as the 2017 Buncombe County Teacher of the Year, which will be announced at the annual Teacher of the Year Banquet at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel® on September 21. The selection process for the Buncombe County Teacher of the Year includes a portfolio, interviews, classroom observations, and a prepared speech presentation.

  • Sean Dare, Enka Middle School, Enka District
  • Tina Evans, Martin L. Nesbitt Discovery Academy, Erwin District
  • Jennifer Vann, Barnardsville Elementary School, North Buncombe District
  • Samantha Gallman, Charles D. Owen High School, Owen District
  • Caitlin Sullivan, Fairview Elementary School, Reynolds District
  • Catherine Belair , Valley Springs Middle School, Roberson District
