Press release from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:
As we continue to contend with the loss and unimaginable grief being experienced by the Uvalde community, we know that our students, educators, and families are feeling it in our classrooms. Out of an abundance of caution, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office will increase and expand law enforcement presence at public and private schools across Buncombe County through the end of the year.
“We take great care and responsibility in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. We are increasing our presence, support and staff available throughout county school buildings as a reflection of that commitment,” says Buncombe County Sheriff, Quentin Miller.
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office hopes to support ending our school year on a positive note and our School Resource Officers and Deputies take their roles as education partners with great pride. We will be readily available to provide reassurance, mentorship, camaraderie and a listening ear.
