The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (McGhee Tyson Airport) announce a call for entries for the next Arts in the Airport, a juried exhibition developed to allow regional artists to compete and display work in the most visited site in the area. Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts are joining with Arts in the Airport to showcase an art exhibition that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Park Service. One of 409 units of the park service, the Smokies not only have extraordinary scenic beauty but are also home to more than 18,000 species of life and 100 historic log buildings. Artists are encouraged to submit work inspired by or in celebration of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Submitted work may reflect the beauty of the landscape, wildlife and fauna or reference the rich creative and cultural heritage of the area. Contemporary fine craft which reflects an appreciation of craft tradition will be considered. Approximately 40-45 fine art works encompassing all styles and genres from both emerging and established artists will comprise the exhibition in the secured area behind McGhee Tyson Airport’s security gate checkpoint from September 29, 2016 – April 19, 2017.
The deadline for entries to be received is Sunday, July 24, 2016.

The call for entries is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the 33 counties of East Tennessee and 24 counties of Western North Carolina.
Each artist may submit up to five entries which must be original works. The nonrefundable entry fee is $30 for up to five works (free for Arts & Culture Alliance members).
