Press release from Caring for Children:
CARING for Children recently received a $1,500 grant from Publix Super Markets Charities to support the construction of a new playground at its 50 Reddick Road office in East Asheville. The location is home to CARING’s Foster Care and ACE Outpatient Counseling Programs.
Earlier this year, CARING began working with the Red Thread Visionaries, a local volunteer group, who offered to remove the old, dilapidated playset and construct a safer, more up-to-date playground for the small nonprofit. The RTV’s held fundraisers and approached several local businesses to gain support (donations and materials) for the project. The grant award from Publix will be used to purchase materials for the construction of the playground which is set for Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 8AM to 8PM.
Terri Bowman, Development Director for CARING for Children noted that “Over 900 children and families visit our Reddick Road offices annually. Building a new playground will give our kids a safe place to play. We’re grateful for the support of Publix Super Markets Charities and others in our community who are making this project a reality!”
CARING for Children and the Red Thread Visionaries are asking for volunteers to help construct the playground and do other projects on October 24, 2015 from 8AM-8PM. If interested, please call (828)785-1590.
Store Manager, David Jenkins presented a $1,500 check for the project and said “Publix is proud to support organizations like CARING for Children and worthwhile projects like this in our community”
