Press release from Casting for Hope:
The 5th Annual Casting for Hope Gold-Level Fly-Fishing Competition will occur on April 8-10, 2016 in Spruce Pine and Bakersville, North Carolina. Anglers from all over the United States and even abroad have made Casting for Hope a staple on their competition circuit. Over the last four years, this event has raised over $120,000 for women and families battling ovarian or another gynecological cancer in our western North Carolina communities.
The Casting for Hope team is seeking volunteers to make the competition another great success. Volunteers are needed to perform a number of tasks such as food pick-up and delivery to sites and registration, but principally, volunteer stream monitors are needed to record the length of the fish that are caught by anglers during the competition. If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about fly fishing or just enjoying sitting by a river watching a great angler fish–this event is for you! And your services will directly aid Casting for Hope’s work in our communities in western North Carolina.
