Educational programming for this year focuses on Swirlware, the Catawba Valley’s art pottery. Developed in the 1920-30s, this decorative pottery is produced by pulling two contrasting colors of clay up together creating a distinctive swirling pattern. On Saturday morning at 11:00. Dr. Charles Zug will lead a program about Swirlware, with potters Steve Abee and Charlie Lisk providing a demonstration. An exhibit of this pottery style will be on view throughout the day. Videos and other demonstrations will also be available.

Potters from North Carolina and the South will be selling traditional pottery, offering a variety of vessels from coffee mugs to great works of art. Truly, there is something wonderful for every taste and price range. The Catawba Valley Pottery & Antiques Festival 2016 is a fun and educational event. Come check us out!
