Press release:
The Charles George VA Medical Center (VAMC) has earned the 5-Star Quality rating for the 7th consecutive quarter, the highest possible rating according to VA’s Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning Value (SAIL) model. The medical center is ranked in the top 6% in a system of 128 VA, SAIL measured, medical centers and ranked #1 in the nation among all VA medical centers for inpatient satisfaction for the 10th consecutive quarter, which is one of 25 measures considered in the quality ratings.
SAIL is used to rate hospital system performance within Veterans Health Administration (VHA). SAIL is equivalent to the Truven ratings system used in the private sector. SAIL assesses areas such as patient safety and access to care, and is used to spotlight the successful strategies of VA’s top performers in order to promote high quality, safety, and value-based health care across all of its medical centers. The Charles George VAMC improved from a 3-Star to a 4-Star SAIL rating in late 2014 and has maintained a 5 star rating since April of 2015.
“I’m proud that we have maintained a 5 star rating, but more importantly I am proud that we are continuing to provide excellent service to Veterans,” said Medical Center Director Cynthia Breyfogle.
While being a great place to receive care the medical center is also a great place to work. Charles George VA Medical Center ranks in the top 6% of all VA medical centers for nurse retention and is ranked 2nd in the nation for best places to work.
“The dedicated employees at Charles George VA Medical Center consider it an honor and a privilege to care for our Veterans and I could not be more proud of the work that they do to serve those who have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Breyfogle.
Wonderful!
I have been a patient there for ? 15 plus years and have always been treated well. The staff members are courteous, patient, obviously competent in their service to patients — myself being my prime source of experience for that. There appears to be a genuine compassion for all the patients and a fundamental understanding that patients are occasionally lost in the complex system a hospital the size of Charles George — I for one have experienced that.
I am very pleased, very happy to have been accepted as a patient, very thankful for the courteous reception by all who work there.
Thanks,
Harold E. Holcombe, ET1, USN, 1954-1958
