Closures coming for pipe replacements in Candler

News release from NCDOT:

Schedule accommodates school traffic

N.C. Department of Transportation crews are scheduled to close Queen Road from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday this week in order to replace drainage pipes ahead of resurfacing later this year.

NCDOT will restrict the closure to allow for morning and afternoon school traffic in the area. Transportation officials have established a marked detour utilizing Pisgah Highway (N.C. 151), Smokey Park Highway (U.S. 19) and Enka Lake Road.

Crews are slated to replace four pipes along the stretch of road and identify other necessary upgrades before resurfacing begins at a date to be determined later by the resurfacing contractor.

Transportation officials remind drivers to remain alert and obey all posted traffic signs.
