Cold front will result in gusty conditions this afternoon and tonight

All Western North Carolina counties are under a wind advisory until 6 a.m. Thursday, with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph gusting to 55 mph, which could bring down trees and power lines, according to the Weather Service.

The winds are connected to a cold front which will push temperatures lower beginning Wednesday afternoon. Tonight’s low is expected to be 21 degrees.

Southwest winds will strengthen across the region ahead of the approaching cold front.
