Here’s the press release from the Mark Meadows campaign:
Sylva, N.C. – Representative Mark Meadows (NC-11) released the following statement after officially announcing his candidacy for reelection in the 11th Congressional District of North Carolina.
“From my campaign to my time in Congress, representing the people of Western North Carolina is a responsibility I have never taken lightly,” Meadows said. “With constituent service as my top priority, I remain committed to ensuring that each of the more than 750,000 people in the 11th District has access to Washington. Ultimately, the will of the people will be heard. If I have done my job well, I will come back to serve a second term. If I have not, I should go home.
“The people of Western North Carolina expect a Congress that facilitates job creation and economic growth, reins in excessive government spending and upholds our traditional Christian values. Though some gains have been made during the 113th Congress, much more work remains to be done. I look forward to continuing to represent the conservative principles so important to the people of the 11th District, and my sincere thanks to the thousands of Western North Carolinians who have supported our efforts to make the government accountable to the people once again.”
“If I have done my job well, I will come back to serve a second term. If I have not, I should go home.”
As someone instrumental in the costly and ill-conceived government shutdown, you have not done the job well (unless the ‘job’ was to damage the economy and embarrass the country) and hopefully will be going “home” (would that be Florida or France?)
And finally, upholding “traditional Christian values” is NOT the charge of Congress, and never has been.
