Donated conservation easement protects forested Reems Creek cove

Press release from Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy:

Leonard Wiener, a long-time conservationist and retired geologist, recently donated a conservation easement on 63 acres of a beautiful, secluded cove in the Reems Creek area of Buncombe County. The property is located near other SAHC-protected preserves and conservation easements, including the Woodfin Watershed. With forested mountain slopes, rocky outcrops, and intermittent drainages that feed into Reems Creek in the French Broad River watershed, the land contains abundant wildlife habitat and natural resources.

We are so grateful to the landowner for generously donating the conservation easement on this property, and to the Buncombe County Land Conservation Advisory Board, philanthropic leaders and SAHC members for supporting the project!
