From a press release:

Mission Health is pleased to announce that Christopher Elder, MD, of Asheville Orthopaedic Associates (AOA), an affiliate of Mission Health, will now see patients from a new practice space in McDowell County in addition to the main AOA office in Buncombe County. Dr. Elder has been in practice at AOA since 2002.

“It is with great eagerness that we are now announcing the opening of our new Asheville Orthopaedic Associates practice in Marion, North Carolina,” said Jonathan Bailey, Vice President of Operations, Mission Health. “Dr. Elder has been an invaluable asset to our primary practice location in Asheville and he will now be splitting his time between the two locations.  Dr. Elder understands the importance of providing the best care to every patient, every time and will help us continue to service our patients in McDowell County.”

Dr. Elder earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York City.  He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dr. Elder is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.  He has also one of the few surgeons in North Carolina performing hip arthroscopies on a regular basis.

“As a general orthopaedic surgeon, I primarily specialize in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine, with a focus on shoulder, knee and hip surgeries,” said Dr. Elder. “It is exciting for us to be incorporating an Asheville orthopaedic presence in McDowell County and I am looking forward to getting to know our patients in that area better.”

The office offers same-day clinic and MRI services. The physicians with AOA take pride in finding and implementing the best possible solutions to their patients’ orthopaedic problems.
