From Two Sisters Farmstead School:
Free family nature days at farm school in Candler begins Sat June 25
Candler, NC – Two Sisters Farmstead School is offering free monthly Family Discovery Days for children and adults to play and learn outdoors. One Saturday of every month will be devoted to programming for the entire family, designed to promote community and teach natural science concepts. The first Family Discovery Day will be on Saturday, June 25 at the Farmstead, 218 Morgan Cove Road in Candler. Families can join the morning session from 10am-12noon or the afternoon session from 1pm-3pm. The noon-1pm hour is open for free play and picnic lunches for everyone.
The theme for June 25 is “What’s Here?” Participants will become experts on one native plant and take turns teaching it to others. Everyone will experience the food chain in the game of Owls, Mice and Seeds. Adventurous families can hike the Ridge Trail to search for wild animals. Lastly, families will take “solo” hikes back down the trail to experience nature together.
Family Discovery Days are free and there is no registration required. More Family Discovery Days are scheduled for the following Saturdays: July 16, August 13, September 10, and October 15. Find out more at twosistersfarmstead.org/programs/family-discovery-days or call 828/707.4236.
