Garage TRS hosts bike night to benefit Veterans Restoration Quarters

Press release from Garage TRS:

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Garage TRS, Asheville’s premiere used motorcycle dealership, will kick off the riding season and raise money for Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry’s services for homeless veterans at the Garage TRS Spring Kickoff Bike Night and Benefit on Wednesday, March 30.

The Bike Night will start at 6 p.m. at the Garage TRS location at 26 Glendale Avenue in Asheville. Featured events will include bike games, a performance by Asheville-based blues and rock band Wyze Guys, and a live auction with items from local businesses. Auctioneer Alan Brasington will conduct the auction. Free beer will be on tap for ages 21-and-over and a food truck will be on site for food purchases.

There is a $10 suggested donation for the evening. All proceeds will benefit ABCCM’s Veterans Restoration Quarters, which houses 250 homeless male veterans who are moving from a state of homelessness to a place of self-sustainability. The VRQ, and its companion program Steadfast House for women and children, including female veterans, provide residents with housing, food, case management, education and connection to both mental and physical health care providers on their road to restoration.

“Everyone knows or cares for someone who has been impacted, whether directly or indirectly, by their military service,” said Tyler Garrison, who owns Garage TRS along with The Regeneration Station and Asheville Junk Recyclers. “The Veterans Restoration Quarters has a strong impact on the community. Organizations that help veterans are in dire need of our support.”

Bike games that night will include a slow ride (the slowest rider without allowing his or her feet to touch the ground wins) and a weenie ride (a partner game in which the passenger has to take a bite of a hot dog while on the back of a moving motorcycle – the biggest bite wins).
