Hendersonville HOPE Aktion Club makes donation to Interfaith Assistance Ministry

Press release from Ziprik Consulting:

The non-profit Hendersonville HOPE Aktion Club (a Service Leadership Program of Kiwanis International for adults with disabilities) has made a donation to Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM) in Hendersonville of more than 150 items.

“Our members collected these needed materials for IAM as a way to help fulfill our mission of helping children in our community,” says Vickie Ewing, Kiwanis Carolinas District Aktion Club Administrator. “We directly collected materials for IAM and also worked with Mills River Presbyterian Church to gather materials that IAM needs to help people in our area.”

On an ongoing basis, HOPE Aktion Club raises fund through bake sales, renting parking spots during the Apple Festival in Hendersonville, and by recycling aluminum cans. Along with serving the community, the adults with disabilities associated with the organization learn leadership skills through their local efforts.

“This important group of people are putting aside their own daily life challenges to help children in our community,” says Ewing. “In addition to the donations to IAM, the Aktion Club members have also donated cleaning supplies to Safelight, a shelter for children and families escaping abusive situations.”
