Writer, teacher and humorist Jennifer McGaha will lead a workshop on the publishing process from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 on the campus of UNC Asheville.
Submission Guidelines: How to Get Your Work Published in Literary Journals and Magazines, is a one-day, non-credit workshop from the university’s Great Smokies Writing Program. This workshop will focus on strategies writers can use to publish single works of fiction, creative nonfiction, essays, humor and poetry. McGaha will offer guidance on finding appropriate publications, writing cover letters, tracking submissions, following up with editors and learning from rejection.
McGaha’s creative nonfiction work has appeared in dozens of publications, including Chronicle of Higher Education, PANK Magazine, Lumina and Little Patuxent Review, and she is a regular blogger for The Huffington Post. She has served as the creative nonfiction editor for The Pisgah Review, and has taught composition and creative writing in a variety of settings, including the Great Smokies Writing Program, Brevard College, and Western Illinois University.
