The announcement of Brother Wolf Animal Rescue’s plans to close their Adoption Center has made our community question the impact it will have on other animal welfare groups in WNC and the animals who will need help. To bridge the gap, Asheville Humane Society is hosting multiple Volunteer and Foster Information Sessions at their Adoption Center, 14 Forever Friend Lane.
The Volunteer and Foster Coordinators will briefly explain how these programs work and ways to get involved. Afterward, there will be an optional tour of the Animal Care Campus. These sessions will also include information from other WNC animal welfare organizations who hope to expand their volunteer and foster networks. Asheville Humane Society’s Executive Director, Tracy Elliott, is asking for our community’s continued support during this transition.
“Our doors are open and we’re experiencing increased traffic in our Adoption Center. Nearly 400 animals found their new homes so far this month, but over 500 are still in our care,” said Elliott. “With more animals coming in every day, we are asking the community to help us and the other rescue organizations in the region by volunteering, fostering, and adopting homeless animals. This is the most animal-friendly community in the country, and we know people will come forward to ensure that every animal has a life worth living.”
