Press release from Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office:

The investigation by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office into the death of Elizabeth May Mann has been determined to be a homicide after receiving additional information from the State Medical Examiner’s Office. Due to the severe decomposition of the body, the autopsy required specialists to determine the cause of death.

Ms. Mann’s body was found on July 31, 2019 in a wooded area off Justice Ridge Terrace in Candler. The Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at her residence as part of our investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation remains active and we ask anyone with information to contact the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office at (828) 250-6670 or Asheville-Buncombe CrimeStoppers at (828) 255-5050. Callers can remain anonymous with both numbers.
