Julia Franks presents ‘Over the Plain Houses’ at Thomas Wolfe Memorial, June 10

Press release:

At 2pm Saturday June 10th the Thomas Wolfe Memorial introduces the second program of its signature summer series Writers at Wolfe. Julia Franks presents her spellbinding debut novel “Over the Plain Houses,” a story of an Appalachian woman intrigued by the possibility of change and escape. Julia currently lives in Atlanta, and has roots in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee, North Carolina, and West Virginia. She has taught literature for over two decades with the desire to create a culture of excitement around reading. She is the founder of Loose Canon, a web service project that supports teachers who wish to foster reading in the classroom, and aid students to discover their own favorite authors

The Saturday readings by distinguished authors are sponsored by the Friends of Thomas Wolfe. “You will certainly want to add this work to your summer reading list,” said Site Manager Tom Muir. The program of readings and discussions is free to the public at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial visitor center 52 N. Market Street.
